Sweet baby E,
I’m not sure if you noticed the fact that this update said “4 & 5 month update” as in I missed doing a separate one for each month…oh what’s that? You did notice? Yeah…man, thought you might’ve overlooked that, but you are pretty observant so…there’s that.
It has been a very busy season for our family. Your month from 3 to 4 was a hard month for me. I actually landed myself in the ER because I was having some unexplainable things happening to me…blurred vision, trouble walking, memory loss. I went to the doctor to figure out what was going on and after failing a few basic neurological tests she sent me straight over to the ER to get an MRI. After a loooong, crazy day in a NYC emergency room I was diagnosed with acute sleep deprivation. That’s a real thing. You are so worth it, but kiddo…lets try sleeping a little bit more this month, okay?
We got back home from being in FL for a month and decided to move apartments (this was a week after I was in the hospital). I wont go into all the details, but it was a good move for our family. We’re officially moved into our new home in Harlem (we moved when you were 4.5 months) and we are LOVING it. You and Hazel had a rough time adjusting the first 2 nights—but we’ve been here for a week and you ladies are settling in nicely now.
Some quick updates:
Eating:
I hear I need to be feeding you solids soon. We’ll get on that. You’re a breastfeeding pro at this point in the game. You’ve also finally started taking bottles and unlike your sister you’re not picky! It was tricky at first, but once you figured it out you got the hang of it really quick!
Sleeping:
Ha! Looking at your 3 month update I wrote how wonderfully you were doing—you must have read that and wondered if I was up for a challenge. Verdict: I was not. After being in the ER we decided to let ya cry it out. We did it with Hazel around your age and it worked great. After 3 nights she figured it out and there was no more crying and a whole lot more sleeping. You’re a little bit more feisty. ;) You’re now going down easy—most nights there’s no tears. You’re waking up once a night to eat, but I’m hoping soon enough you’ll drop that one. I’ll take you waking up once over being up for the whole night so thank you. :)
Temperament
You are so chill and sweet & giggly! Oh man your laugh is one of the sweetest sounds I’ve ever heard! I love it! Hazel makes you laugh a lot which just makes my momma-heart want to burst! You girls are such a gift. I can’t wait for more of your personality to come out—you’re really fun and I love how cuddly you are. You LOVE being around people and get upset if you can’t see anyones face. You’re definitely a people-person. ;)
Physical
-blue eyes
-still no hair :)
-3-6 month clothes/6 month pjs
-you were 13 lbs 10 oz at your 4 month check up (37th percentile) & 25 inches tall (73rd percentile)
-size 1 diapers until just 2 days ago!
-lots of drooling going on—maybe you’re teething?
Memorable
-We’re in our new home in Harlem!
-You’re playing with toys!
-You're first Easter!
These past two months have taught me a lot about myself, God, and my relationship with Him. I’ve learned what I can and what I cannot handle (physically, emotionally, and mentally). I’ve learned (and am continuing to learn) to ask for help. I don’t think I would’ve learned these things in such big ways had it not been for you. So thank you, Eleanor. You are such a sweet, sweet gift from the Lord. You make me laugh and remind me over and over of God’s goodness. I’m grateful for you, sweet pea. & I love you so very, very much.
Here’s to hoping your 6 month update is full of you sleeping through the night. ;)
Love you, baby girl!
Always,
Momma
